When you think of a pickup truck, chances are good that the image that comes to your mind is of a Ford F-150. Ford’s F-150 model is the all-time best-selling pickup truck in the United States. The release of the 2021 Ford F-150 pickup truck has been long-awaited by Ford drivers and truck enthusiasts alike. Ford’s F-series pickup trucks are iconic classics on the auto market, but the F-150 has been in dire need of a refresh for several years.

It has been many years since the F-150 received any significant redesign, which has led this capable work truck to become fairly outdated—especially in terms of tech features. In order to remain relevant to the mainstream auto market, it was necessary for the Ford F-150 to undergo a major redesign for the 2021 model year.

The 2021 F-150 hasn’t hit the market quite yet, but it is expected to be widely available from official Ford car dealerships before the end of 2020. Until then, here are 5 things you need to know about the 2021 Ford F-150 before this redesigned iconic pickup truck hits the auto market.

  1. Hybrid Powertrain Option

The all-new, redesigned F-150 pickup for 2021 offers no fewer than 6 powertrain options—including an ultra-efficient hybrid powertrain that is sure to make waves on the mainstream auto market. This hybrid powertrain is brand new to the F-150 for the 2021 model year.

Ford’s hybrid powertrain for the 2021 F-150 features a 3.5-L twin-turbo V6 engine and a 35-kW electric motor paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This powerful and efficient hybrid powertrain delivers 430 horsepower and 570 lb.-ft. of torque on the road. Plus, you can drive up to 700 miles in a hybrid 2021 F-150 on just a single tank of gas.

  1. Luxury Interior

Don’t write off the F-150 as “just a work truck”. While it is very functional and practical as a work truck, this pickup truck also has an impressive interior with a luxurious look and feel.

The interior of the 2021 Ford F-150 features premium materials that make it look upscale and luxurious. This pickup truck’s cabin is very spacious and comfortable,

offering plenty of room for all passengers. Several storage spaces are also strategically placed throughout the cabin of the 2021 F-150 in order to help drivers and passengers keep their possessions organized even while on the go.

  1. Functional Design

The 2021 Ford F-150 is designed and built to be functional in a variety of ways in order to enhance the on-the-road experience for both drivers and passengers alike.

This pickup truck is built with a flat workspace integrated into its center console. This workspace acts as a desk surface of sorts that allows drivers to comfortably and efficiently write in a notebook, work on a laptop, etc. This feature comes in handy for those who use their F-150 for work, and for drivers who just appreciate having some more space to get things done while on the go.

The 2021 F-150 is also available with fold-flat front seats that create a comfortable place for drivers to rest or even sleep while on the road for long periods of time. An onboard generator that offers up to 7.2-kW of power is also available for the 2021 F-150. This generator comes in handy for powering electrical devices while on a camping trip, enjoying a tailgate party, etc.

  1. Active Drive Assist

The Ford F-150 pickup truck comes with a variety of advanced safety and active driver-assistance features that help keep both drivers and passengers safe on the road. Some of these features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, etc.

One of the most notable features that is coming soon for the F-150, however, is Active Drive Assist. This all-new system is a semi-autonomous driving system that offers certain self-driving features for the convenience of drivers without sacrificing safety.
