The Ford F-150 is an iconic full-size pickup truck from legendary American multinational automaker Ford Motor Co. Renowned for its drive performance and capability on the road, the powerful Ford F-150 has been a best-selling model in Ford’s truck lineup since the Ford F-Series initially debuted on the mainstream auto market more than 70 years ago in 1948.

The Ford F-150 is currently in its 13th generation, which began in the 2015 model year. Despite the fact that the F-150 has undergone very few updates and upgrades from previous models since the launch of its 13th generation, Ford has already sold more than 4 million 13th-generation F-150 trucks.

Ford drivers will be excited to learn that the Ford F-150 is expected to undergo a major redesign for the 2021 model year. The redesigned 2021 Ford F-150 is projected to debut on the mainstream auto market in late 2020 or early 2021. Although many of the details about the brand-new 2021 Ford F-150 model are not yet known, here are 3 things you need to know about the iconic Ford F-150’s evolutionary redesign coming for model year 2021.

  1. Much-Needed Facelift

For 2021, one of the most notable updates to the Ford F-150 will be a much-needed facelift. Maintaining a clearly defined character that isn’t just “classic stripped-down work truck” has always been an area in which the F-150 is lacking, but the redesigned 2021 F-150 might just change that.

Although its iconic body shape is expected to remain the same between 2020 and 2021, the 2021 F-150 is projected to feature a revised nose and new, modernized headlights that give this pickup truck a bolder, better-defined exterior.

  1. Higher-End Interior

The 2021 Ford F-150 is also expected to feature a higher-end interior that gives this pickup truck a more luxurious look and feel that is upgraded from that of previous F-150 models.

New interior features for the 2021 Ford F-150 include more premium materials and an updated and revised center console with a variety of standard tech features—including an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display equipped with Ford’s latest Sync 4 software.

  1. Hybrid Option

The redesigned Ford F-150 comes with at least 6 different powertrain options, including 5 gas engine options and a hybrid option that features both a gas-powered engine and electric motor.

The gas engine options for the 2021 F-150 include a powerful 5.0-L V8 engine and four V6 engines—two twin-turbo 2.7-L and 3.5-L engines, a 3.0-L turbo-diesel engine, and a 3.3-L naturally aspirated engine. All of these engine options are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission to ensure effortless handling and a smooth and quiet ride.

Excitingly for drivers who prioritize eco-friendliness and driving efficiency, a new hybrid Ford F-150 model will also be newly available for 2021. This efficient hybrid model will feature an electric motor paired with a V6 engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Plus, the 2021 hybrid F-150’s electric motor is dual-functional. It helps power the truck, and it generates enough power to act as a power source for tools, lights, and electronic devices when you’re camping or road-tripping in your F-150 as well.

The redesigned Ford F-150 is not expected to be available for purchase until at least the third quarter of 2020. However, much excitement is already brewing among Ford drivers about this mid-cycle refresh of the 5th generation F-150 full-size pickup truck.

If you’re looking for a new truck in the near future, the 2021 Ford F-150 is definitely a model to watch out for on the market.
